What does special request mean?

Special requests

What is a special request? They are certain services that airlines offer to their passengers which are not included in the price of the airline ticket. Inquiries must be delivered to the airline for each of these services.

Some special requests are free and some have a fixed price and can be purchased in advance while booking the airline ticket.
Some requirements are only addressed to the company, and then when the payment is authorized you pay for it at the airport.

Meals on the flight

Each airline provides a list of possible meals you can have: vegetarian, vegan, baby, kosher, low-calorie, seafood, gluten-free … The procedure is to send them a request through the system and if they approve, you can have your special meal during the flight. Depending on the fare you purchased the meal, it may be free or you might have to pay for it.

Travelers with physical disabilities (WCHR)

According to the level of help needed at the airport, as well as the reduced ability to move, these are the following categories of disabled passengers:

  • WCHR – These include passengers who can climb or descend stairs, as well as move on their own to or from their seat on the plane, but need wheelchairs to get to and from the plane.
  • WCHS – refers to passengers who cannot climb or descend the stairs, but are able to navigate on their own on the plane. They need wheelchairs to get to the plane and must be carried up the stairs (to get on the plane).
  • WCHC – tu spadaju putnici koji su potpuno nepokretni i kojima su invalidska kolica neophodna za kretanje do aviona, penjanje uz stepenice da bi ušli u avion i do samog sedišta.

All three services are free, but it is very important that you wait for the airline’s confirmation that the wheelchairs are approved because airlines do not always have all types of airplane wheelchairs on all flights.
.

Unaccompanied children (UMNR)

If the juvenile is traveling alone, an escort is required. This service is payable at the airport and the price depends on the airline through which the child is flying. When booking an airline ticket, it’s necessary to provide the information of the person escorting the child to the airport and the person waiting for the child at the airport.

For each of the escort, the name and last name, identification code, kinship, and mobile number must be provided.

Pets

Each airline has a clearly defined pet transportation policy. It is important that these special requirements are set as early as possible as airlines also have restrictions on the number of pets on the flight.

Some only allow carriage in the cabin of the aircraft, while some also allow in the trunk. For most airlines, the maximum weight of the animal along with the conveyor is 8kg. Be sure to check which pets are allowed on the flight before purchasing an airline ticket. You can pay for this special request at the airport.

Special baggage (XBAG)

Includes a bicycle, musical instruments, sports equipment: parachute, skis, kite, canoe, surfboard, snowboard …

The correct dimensions and weight limits are determined for each of these items. Depending on whether it is a small, medium or large sports equipment, an additional charge is required at the airport.
